Diverse, bold and elegant. Chardonnay was introduced to wine drinkers in the 70’s and 80’s, and firmly became a favourite amongst many. Today Chardonnay continues to evolve with both dry and sweet styles, and wooded and unwooded styles available. In the glass, Chardonnay typically has a colour range from straw to deep yellow. Winemakers can influence this varietal with a number of techniques in the winery. Probably the best known, is Malo-Lactic fermentation, which gives many Chardonnay’s their famous buttery flavour. In addition to these toasty and buttery notes,  wooded Chardonnay also displays flavours of cucumber, apple, mandarin, peach, rockmelon, fig, guava fruit salad, and quince. Unwooded styles typically display tropical fruit flavours with a crisp finish.
